Here I am in a small country where everyone is Catholic.. except, perhaps, some of the Swiss guards.
When I was there I remember commenting to someone about a solid gold cross encrusted with semi-precious stones while I was walking through one of the many display areas there. I said something like “I wonder how many people went hungry to put yet another cross in Rome. I’ll bet they have literally piles of these around here.”
I think I killed his Vatican buzz.
